Amoxicillin, the great allergy inducer in the children

There are many anti microbial agents and drugs that are present in the market, and when the efficacy of these drugs are considered, there is one things which is needed to be considered in these medicine, these might induce the allergic reaction so severe that it may claim a life. Therefore, most of the time, the people are not taking the medication which may cause the allergic reaction and many medical professional always administer the antibiotics after giving the test dose. Amoxicillin is one of the medications which belong to the penicillin group, and if the patient is having the allergy with the normal penicillin, there are many chances that the patient will also have the allergic reaction with Amoxicillin too.

According the research which was presented in American College of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology, there are double the chances that children are much more disposed to have the allergy with the Amoxicillin as compared to the adults of the same age. Hence, finding out the ways to avoid the administration of Amoxicillin will be only way. Amoxicillin is one of the great drugs which are very much efficient against the bacteria and work through the inhibition of the cell wall synthesis in most of the bacteria. However, in many setups, the use of Amoxicillin has been restricted because of the two reasons. Firstly, there are the chances of developing the allergic reactions to it; on the other hand, there are also the chances that the resistance to Amoxicillin will develop.

The cohort of 62 patients was studied by the doctors in whom there were children. Among these, nearly 32 percent of the children were tested positive for the development of the allergic reaction to Amoxicillin. On the other hand, the very same cohort of the adults showed the result of only 13 percent of the allergic reactions. Hence, finding out that the number of patients that are having the allergic reaction to Amoxicillin are more in children as compared to adults.

The tests that were done on the patients were done through only administering the Amoxicillin in the subcutaneous tissue. Hence, this makes out the final outcome for the disease in which it was shown that the children are much more predispose to the fact that they will have the allergic reaction to the Amoxicillin as compared to the adults who are reported to have the resistance developed for Amoxicillin.
